The house
Built around bamboo,
and the idea of privacy.
Bamboo House was built by Vernell Akyeampong, a civil engineer who grew up between Brooklyn and Ghana, and wanted a house that felt like Ghanaian hospitality rather than a hotel. The architecture takes its cue from David Adjaye — arches, light, flat white planes — while bamboo runs through the halls and bathrooms as the material the house is named for.
What guests actually notice is quieter: the gate closes, the road noise stops, and the pool is yours. Nine years of hosting, one caretaker on site, security through the night.
